It’s been some time since I’ve written a blog – six months to be exact! Sorry I left you hanging for so long. The past six months have been full of great food, exciting adventures, and fun times with family and friends.
As 2018 came to a close, I threw myself into work. My 9-5 is a sales role, and for those of you in a similar profession, you know how crucial year end numbers are. My team prevailed!
The holidays came and went like they always do. The Muck Fichigan game is the most important event in all of Buckeye Land. To start off the New Year, my high school sweetheart of 7 years proposed. Can you say excitement? Well, now that things have calmed down and we have a wedding date set, 12-5-2020, I’m back 🙂
The last week of April was Anthony’s Spring Break, and we went back & forth about what we should do/where we should go. We’re planning a trip to Asheville, N.C. this summer, so a stay-cation was more reasonable.
BrewDog locations have slowly started to emerge into the Columbus area. For those of you not familiar with BrewDog, it is a brewery that originated in Scotland and made its grand entrance to the United States in Columbus. BrewDog Cbus has three locations – Short North, Franklinton, and Canal Winchester.
So, what’s even better than a hip brewery with perfectly crafted brews and delicious food? A BrewDog themed HOTEL. Yes, folks, allow me to introduce you to the DogHouse.
The DogHouse is connected to BrewDog’s location in Canal Winchester, about a half hour Southeast of the city. If you’re a beer drinker, this is just the place for you.
There’s a beer fridge in the bathroom that makes for easy access to a shower beer.
Elvis Juice (BrewDog’s famous Grapefruit IPA) scented hygiene products.
And a beer tap can be installed right in your room for an extra charge. We of course couldn’t pass this up.
The decor is on point and when you exit your room you see this. A huge room full of sour beers. Side note – The sour beers are stored separately to avoid cross contamination from the other brews.
All the artwork is handed painted. They actually painted a mural on the side of the hotel while we were there.
The staff is oh so friendly, and the environment is laid back.
As we move to BrewDog, the restaurant and bar, I can’t help but think how perfectly crafted this location is. Everything from the light fixtures to the placement of booths was so well thought out.
The DogHouse is fully equipped for you to bring your doggos. There’s even a dog park where they can run around and play. The green space out back is picture perfect. I grew up in rural Ohio, and after living amongst the hustle and bustle for the last 6 years, I forget the peace and tranquility that it can provide. There’s big Jenga, corn hole, and plenty of outdoor seating.
We tried a variety of different beverages, but the Pina Playa & Elvis mule were my favorites. Anthony is an Elvis Juice guy. Now you know we had to sample a handful of things on the menu.
First up, buffalo cauliflower. I am a buffalo cauliflower connoisseur. It was lightly breaded with a lot of heat. Thumbs up!
Second, the big pretzel. The dipping sauces were out of this world. It was the perfect snack before our tour of the brewery. When you stay at the hotel, you get to go on a free tour of the brewery. Did I mention that more than once you are greeted with free beers? Check-in beers for when you arrive. Brewery tour beers. Beer mimosas in the morning 🙂
Not to mention BrewDog is full of games & activities – life size connect four, arcade games, BrewDog Museum on site, and shuffleboard.
Anthony & I had a great stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly & accommodating, the room was clean & thoughtfully decorated, and we had a nice view of the pond outside. There was also an added bonus. FREE BREAKFAST!
This was quality breakfast. An egg bake, meats & cheeses (my favorite), pastries, and a yogurt bar. We washed it all down with beer-mosas! I can’t say enough good things about BrewDog & The DogHouse. It’s the perfect spot for a stay-cation during the dog days of summer 😉
I promise not to make you wait this long for the next update. Enjoy a BrewDog beer & I’ll be back with more soon!
Much foodie love,
